Why I do what I do!

I get asked why I (someone who is not coordinated nor athletic) started a business helping women feel more “comfortable in their own skin” and achieve more mobility and energy in their bodies through movement and exercise…. Well, the answer stems from my own experience with injury and recovery as a busy mom. When I had my first bad injury twenty years ago, I was shocked at its debilitating effects on my supposedly young and healthy body.

And to make matters worse, I couldn’t get any help from the medical community where I lived. But I knew that that could not be the end for me. I’m a born-again believer, so I believed that God desired my body to be healed and whole. So with Isaiah 53 in mind, I started creating my own workouts to get relief. Ladies, never forget that God is so faithful!!! The workouts actually worked! After that, I started noticing that all of the women around me were suffering too.

Now I had a mission! To share the tips and techniques that I had learned and help those around me

But first, I had to learn why what I had created worked. So it was back to school for me. That’s when I started studying to figure out why what I created had worked for me.

Some of what I learned throughout this period was that, as women, we often sabotage our own health and well-being by over -exercising and dieting. My own experiences were vivid examples of the dangers of under-eating and overworking.

In addition to dieting woes, I have also experienced tendinitis, pelvic floor prolapse, and other aches and pains. After studying the cause of these annoyances I've learned how common these aches and pains are for men and women. While these little and sometimes big annoyances are common, so often a tiny tweak in form can change everything! My workout regimens are not about burning out our muscles as much as possible (although that can be fun), they’re about moving and moving WELL. Once you get the fundamentals down really well, you’ll be amazed at the things you can do! My goal in movement is two-fold; I want:

  • you to experience pain-free daily living and feel strong for whatever you need to do throughout your day.

  • you feel the freedom to try anything (whether its a new sport or going on adventures while traveling) and to say yes to fun experiences!

I understand that you may be confused as to what to do to become healthy. There’s so much conflicting information that it can be easy to sink into inaction. Please, don’t do that! I'm here for you! The woman in college who is super stressed figuring out life, the woman who is five months pregnant and wondering if it’s even safe to start exercising now, the woman with four kids and no time to add more things into her schedule, or the woman approaching menopause and nothing seems to work for her like it once did. I can see you all doing your best, and I want to help equip you to live out your God-given purpose.

A little about me…..

Growing up in a house full of boys, I dreamed of one day spending time abroad in a country brimming with European Romance. So after college, I spent a year teaching in France where I developed my appreciation for the Art of Dining and amazing gift that the French have for making every moment special. Even after leaving France and returning to the State, I was able to bring that French-ness to wherever I lived. Marriage to the love of my life and giving birth to four adorable children (one at a time!) has solidified for me the importance of savoring the moment and relying on God to handle the future. I now live in Texas which has allowed me take up gardening and enjoy not just getting great produce at a great price, but also to discover my love of nature. I adore the fragrance of Jasmine floating on the breeze.

I keep an overall easy-going lifestyle punctuated by teaching yoga fusion classes and spending quality time with my church family. Friday is reserved for family movie night with hubby and our four kids.

I’m not your usual yoga teacher. I’m a Christian so I don’t include the philosophical aspects of yoga. Instead I teach my own blend of yoga, pilates, barre, cardio, and strength training with a focus on joint safety. I love to have fun on my yoga mat, so don’t expect to get real serious when you work out with me. I enjoy laughing too much to take exercise seriously!

My philosophy is to never be so busy, that I can’t either stop and smell the roses or help out a friend in need. I LOVE the beach, palm trees, oceans, and bright tropical flowers.

I have taken numerous trainings and programs, here’s just a sampling of who I studied with:

  • Certified Health Coach – Dr. Sears Wellness Institute

  • Registered Yoga Teacher 500 hr

  • Certified Nutrition Coach – Precision Nutrition

  • Women’s Corrective Exercise Specialist – Core Exercise Solutions

  • Certified Personal Trainer – Action

  • Certified Women’s Health Coach – Integrative Women’s Health Institute

  • Certified Core Strength Vinyasa - CSV by Sadie Nardini

My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
