My favorite tips for prioritizing tasks
Can I be honest? In the past, I have spent a lot of time worrying about not getting everything that I “needed” to accomplish, completed. I would get frustrated with myself and upset with everyone else around me. I had to learn how to prioritize in order to keep from going crazy…..How about you? Do you feel that you never have enough time?? Do you feel constantly rushed? How is that affecting your health? Here’s the thing, if we don’t prioritize what is important to us, we will be forever running around in circles. So I put together a little helpful reminder with instructions on how to prioritize your tasks.
Write out all of the tasks that you need and want to accomplish
Separate the list into daily and one-time or occasional tasks
3. Number the two lists in order of importance
4. Pick the top 3 from each list and put them up on your fridge to do tomorrow. Don’t worry about anything else on the lists. Just focus on those few tasks.
5. Now take a look at your week. Assign the remaining tasks to the appropriate day.
Example: Task - clean house
This can either be done on a weekly schedule all at once or at a little bit each day depending on your schedule.
6. Once your selected jobs for the day are completed, relax! The body can only handle so much before it needs a break.
Try this for a few weeks by writing out the task lists on Sunday, so that you can start first thing on Monday. You may find that you can actually get more done than just those three things. Or that you simply don’t have the time after all and need to pare down your list even more. There are only 24 hours in the day and 8 of those should be sleeping, so be wise and don’t ask more of your mind and body than you can healthfully give.
